Doncaster Dolphins have a range of awards that recognise excellence in both pool and open water swimming, achievement, and improvement for our members.
The Dolphin of the Month (DoM) is an award that recognises an outstanding member of the Doncaster Dolphins Masters Swim Club - either for achievements in the pool and/or open water or for contributions to the club outside of the water. There are 3 main categories members are nominated against:
A. Exemplary Swimmer - for winning events or breaking a record.
B. Boundary Pusher - for outstanding swimming effort and stepping outside their comfort zone.
C. Club Contributor - for lending a hand and going above and beyond for the club.
Any financial member of the club can make a nomination via an online form made available to members.
Below are our three most recent winners. Click here to see a full list of award recipients.
Barb Smith
Barb broke the 400m freestyle record at the Short Course Long Distance event after a challenging couple of years with injury. This is a top quality record, broken by 10 seconds. It was great to see Barb get this state record, a particularly hard record to break, with an incredible time. Barb is always a hard worker and very humble. She hasn't let injury hold her back from achieving greatness.
Magnus Petersson
After a challenging first meet in March, Magnus has shown remarkable determination and growth. He played a key role in helping two men’s relay teams break Victorian state records, and also claimed two individual state records in the 50m fly and a 25m fly on the split at the recent State Short Course meet.
Paula Shaw
Paula swam well at the GBR games, and pushed her boundaries by competing in the 400 backstroke for the first time and trying the 50 breaststroke (which is a new event for her). She worked hard in training and repeatedly stayed in the water after training to master the backstroke turn.
Each year major awards are given out at the Dolphins Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the end of March. Below are our recent 2024 recipients.
