Open Water

Many Dolphins participate in Open Water competitions over the summer, including events over the Great Victorian Swim Series. Members interested in open water are encouraged to join the Dolphins Open Water WhatsApp group chat to hear about competitions and open water activities. Each year, we typically offer members the opportunity to participate in two open water swim clinics in partnership with SwimWell. This is an excellent opportunity to try open water or learn something new.

Swim Noosa 24 May 2025

Jackie and Peta escaped the cold weather to swim in Noosa’s warmer waters. Jackie Ellul placed 1st in 1km and 3.8km; Peta Harvey also placed 1st in 1km and 2nd in 3.8km. Well done!

Congratulations to Katie Clarkson and Peta Harvey for winning their age group in the GVSS competition. Jackie Ellul, Katie Cunnington and Rohan Fanning came 2nd.

WOW Challenge, Williamstown

Leanne (60-69 yrs) was 2nd in the 2.5km and 4th in the 1.2km.

Mentone

Jackie (30-39 yrs) and Peta (60-69 yrs) won the 1.2km swim in their age groups and came 2nd in the 2.5km (no wetsuit category).

Bonbeach

Jackie and Peta won their age groups in both the 1.2km and 2.5km distances. Mick also swam both events, finishing 2nd in the 2.5km and 5th in the 1.2km. Damon and Rohan won their age groups in the 1.2km swim and Alan Gibson came 3rd in his age group. Damo was 2nd male overall and Rohan was 3rd.

Storm the Bay, Apollo Bay

Troy Winters was our only representative at this swim and came 3rd in the 45-59 age group.

Cerberus

Peta and Jackie again swam both the 1.2km and 2.5km distances, with Peta winning her age group in both events and Jackie winning the 1.2km.
